ASTRIK International Is an experienced, privately owned Engineering Consulting Company with its Head Office based in Kimironko, Kigali City in Rwanda. Since its incorporation in 2014, the Company has been in forefront of providing engineering services in following focus areas; Road and Transport, Building and urbanization, water and sanitation, irrigation and dams, Environment and climate resilient, Sector specific (Data collections, road asset management, etc.)
Job Brief Overview:
Astrik is looking for a high caliber Director of Engineering Services (DES) to lead the team of Engineers who are responsible for each focus areas. The DES will play significant role in the leadership on the team performance, promotion of company success by meeting the mission and vision. DES will also work in the collaboration with procurement department in the developed of competitive bidding. The DES will be reporting directly to the Managing Director.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all engineering services provided by the ASTRIK in meeting mission and vision of the Company.
- Prepare technical proposal for all tenders as per the ToR requirements in collaboration with Procurement department for meeting business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities
- Responsible for leadership of Engineering Team responsible for Risk analysis in the development of project’s life cycle from beginning to end by emphasizing risks and opportunities
- Researching and introducing new technologies for the use by the Engineers team and in the organisation
- Responsible for creation of in-house standards and monitoring quality during productions of project reports and recommend for improvements, where necessary
- Provide strategic advice to the other Engineers so that they will have accurate view of the market, company goals and the company’s future growth and development
- Ensure company policies and technical guidelines are communicated clearly to all technical staff and that they are followed at all times
- Liaise with and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners and authorities.
- Oversee the company’s project delivery and performance as per the Contract and to the satisfaction of the Clients and stakeholders and business partners Nationally and Internationally
- Control and oversee all technical operations, efficiency of the human resources, assets, during project delivery
- Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of executives providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
- Read all submitted project reports by engineers and other professional experts for quality control prior to final submission to the Clients
- Analyze any technical problems on the project management and its occurrences and provide technical and managerial solutions to ensure company do not face any technical issues with the Client
- Ensure that the company is constantly moving towards fulfilling its short-term and long-term objectives and does not diverge from its strategic guideline
- Enhance new technological application on the project design, management and building knowledge and skill of other technical staff
- Prepare monthly report on the achievement and challenges to the Management for the review and agreed the way forward
- Manage the engineering resource within the business and control the budget/cost of the projects. This could cover a multi-discipline team of diverse national and international experts
- Develop the company and product strategy alongside the Board of Directors
- Act on behalf of ASTRIK in all technical maters representation across teams, clients and support the sales & marketing organisation.
- Carry any other technical activities that might be directed by the MD
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent leadership skills to coordinate engineering service between teams
- Excellent communication skills (English, and knowledge of French is added advantage)
- Self-motivated, initiative and creativity on addressing problems
- Technical Engineering skill and Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
- Commitment, persuasive, convincing, and negotiation skills
- Advanced computer and database skills
- Proven experience in engineering managerial skill (Project Manager, Team leader etc)
Education and Experience
- Postgraduate degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering
- At least 10 years of experience as Technical director/Project Manager / Team Leader on the project implementation cycles
